Fashion/interior designer,
Todd Oldham, is responsible for Aunt Beru's new kitchen.
Todd was inspired by the local colors and patterns found at the
Mos Eisley swap meets and spice markets. "Her kitchen was
white, it had no color. I really wanted to make a warm and cheery
space for her." Citing Eames and Barragan influences Todd's
patchwork of intentionally mismatched materials creates a mood
neither kitch nor chic but someplace comfortably in-between. |

"I love what he's
done with the place" - Aunt Beru |

Todd used a vase from
his redo of the Tiffany hotel in Miami and filled it with antique
beaded flowers. "It's impossible to be able to have fresh
flowers here , Tatooine is a desert planet, I had to be more
realistic, more practical." |

New sliding cupboard
doors feature custom broken glass pulls. |
|
Todd also added other
touches like the doorway curtain and a small framed thrift store
paint-by-number. "The curtain adds theatricality, these
moisture farmers are trapped out here in the middle of nowhere,
they need entertainment. You won't see what's for dinner until
it's ready. It'll be a surprise!" |
